If you were a fan of Clyde Clifford and Beaker Street back in the mid to late '60's into the early '70's, you will recognize this (the main music bed that was used on Beaker Street starts around the 8:30 mark). Clifford did his broadcast from KAAY's transmitter site instead of the station's main studio because he was the dj AND the broadcast engineer. Since he was broadcasting from the transmitter site, he needed a music bed to help mask the transmitter noise whenever he opened the mic to speak. Wikipedia says that the original music he used was the dream sequence from the "Charade" soundtrack by Henry Mancini. In 1970, he switched to this track for his music bed. Clifford left the station in 1974, and Beaker Street was taken over by Stuart McRae. McRae, in turn, left the station in 1977. Stuart eventually wound up at WZEW in Mobile, Alabama. After leaving WABB-FM, and moving on to TK-101 in Pensacola, I briefly worked for Stuart at the Zoo and he told me the story behind this track and Beaker Street. I did audio restoration on this...it is NOT perfect, but it IS one of the cleanest audio versions I think you will hear on the Internet. It was encoded at 512 aac. I also retouched the album art to fix the wear and tear marks on it. Hope you enjoy it! ...and thank you Clyde, you were one of two people that were my inspiration and motivation to go into radio.
