#bmw #i8 #supercar #sportscar #review The BMW i8 is without any doubt, one of the most head-turning cars of the 21st century. Even now, in 2020, when the market has been quite literally flooded with exotic offerings from Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and many others, there is no denying that the BMW i8 can still hold its own in terms of looks. In terms of performance? Well, no. But it could. And it did. 2014 was not that long ago and at the time, 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds was fast. Up there with some of the better exotics at the time. Beyond just performance, the i8 will always have a special place in history for going against the grain, as being the first mid-engine hybrid electric supercar. It is then, unmistakably, unique. So much in fact, BMW only sold around 20,000 units of the car worldwide, and as at the time of making this video, has discontinued production without thoughts of a successor anywhere down the line. So, we thought we’d take a look back at what the BMW i8 was all about, put it through its paces, and give it a final verdict as to whether or not it will hold a place in history as a supercar that with everything BMW could throw at it, tried to do something different. Who better to join me in today’s episode than Ankishu Gupta, Automotive & Transport Design Consultant, to look back at easily one of the most stunningly designed cars in recent times.
