As part of the recent Town Hall that requested more events/workshops which I am doing. I already set up 2 dates at the Bear Library – March and April. Now the question is….. Different workshop ideas to consider…. Before I forget, I will include a link to the poll/survey that has 10 workshop ideas. I need you to rank them from 1-10 for each workshop. Any problems – contact me at delawaredeaf@gmail.com Now, first topic is Scams prevention and awareness 2nd, ASL Interpreter Request training – right and wrong way to do it plus VRI awareness 3rd, Emergency Disaster preparedness – for example, we have a blizzard right now with snow/ice. Some people may be stuck and can’t get food. Things like that and how to better prepare for that. 4th, ADA Complaint process and other types of complaints 5th, Police and Prison awareness process and what it looks like. I am not an expert and will share what I know. 6th, Financial/Money Education AND Wills plus retirement/life planning – things like that to help better protect your family 7th, Basic Medical Insurance Awareness - co-pays, insurance types, blood pressure, allergies, diabetes, etc etc – it will be an open topic for us all 8th, Mental Health and 988 Education - where get help? – counseling/therapy help 9th, Election and Voting 101 – basic education about elections. We’ll should have a mid-term election this Fall this year that happens every 2 years – unlike the big election every 4 years as this is more state/local. 10th, DAD (Delaware Association of the Deaf) Resources page and Golden Pass/Park pass – lots of info is there and I will touch up on all the categories there. 11th really is for other topics you want us to cover. Don’t expect me to be an expert and I’ll try to find people to help me out too. Deadline is next week, Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026. If you answer after that, that is okay. This will just help me prepare for the March and April workshops. More to come.
