Dunston was born on 27 November 1920 to Paulose and Mariam of Olakkengal family at Puthumanassery, which is part of Pavaratty Parish in the Archdiocese of Thrissur. He has christened Matthew during his baptism at St. Thomas Church, Palayoor. His early education was at two schools, namely, St. Mary’s Elementary School at Puthumanassery and St. Joseph’s High School at Pavaratty. He joined the CMI aspirant's house at Pavaratty on 22 September 1935. He entered the novitiate on 20 July 1938 at St. Teresa’s Monastery, Ambazhakkad, and received the religious habit on 23 November 1938. He made his perpetual vows on 24 November 1942. He offered his first Holy Mass in the Monastery Chapel at Pavaratty on 2 June 1947. When the CMI Congregation was trifurcated in 1953, he was part of the Devamatha Province, Thrissur. When the Coimbatore Vice-Province was formed on 22 June 1978, he joined the same. He served in various capacities at St. Pius X Aspirants House-Varandarappilly, St. Berchmans Aspirants House-Elthuruth, Jothi Nivas-Ranchi, St. Teresa’s NovitiateAmbazhakkad, Preshitha College-Saravanampatty, St. Thomas AshramKozhinjampara, Devamatha Provincial House-Thrissur, CMI Bhavan-Palakkad, Little Flower Aspirants’ House-Kaundampalayam, St. Paul’s Centre-Kadalundy (Spiritual Director for CMI Brothers’ Unit), St. Joseph’s Home-Attappady, Little Flower Mission Centre-Coimbatore, and Bharathamatha Ashram-Palakkad. He volunteered for leading a simple lifestyle at Chennimalai and Kulakkattukurissy. He served as Assistant Vicar at Chethipuzha, Manimala, and Ayiroor. After a glowing religious sojourn on this earth, Fr. Dunston passed into the laps of His Beloved Lord on 20 October 2006.
