Sierra snow causes traffic delays as Northern California storm continues

Another round of wet weather in Northern California on Friday will bring rain to lower elevations and piles of snow to the Sierra. The KCRA 3 weather team is issuing an Impact Day for Friday because of expected travel delays due to snow. School closures in areas hit hard with snow are also possible. Expect chain controls at times because some parts of the Sierra could see a couple of feet of snow. Speed limits will be reduced on major roadways when chain controls are in effect. On Interstate 80, it is reduced to 30 mph. Along Highway 50, it is 25 mph.
