For this week’s Culturally Curious Hop, The Wick met with Tracey Emin Studio Creative Director Harry Weller, Tate Director Maria Balshaw, Assistant Curator of International Art at Tate Modern Jess Baxter and art historian, critic and curator Jean Wainwright to discuss Tracey Emin’s brand-new landmark show 'A Second Life'. The largest ever survey of Emin’s 40-year career, the exhibition brings together over 90 works spanning painting, video, textile, neon, sculpture and installation, from her raw confessions from the 1990s to recent large-scale works shaped by illness, healing, survival and transformation. Moving from Why I Never Became A Dancer (1995) and the Turner Prize-nominated My Bed (1998), to new paintings and bronzes shown for the first time, A Second Life traces a practice that has consistently collapsed the boundary between art and autobiography. At its core, the exhibition reflects what Emin describes as a benchmark moment: a time to look back, and look forward. Tracey Emin: A Second Life is on view now – 31 August. #TraceyEmin #TraceyEminASecondLife #TateModern #ArtExhibitions #ArtGallery #ArtExplained #LondonExhibitions #TheWick #CulturallyCurious
