Harmondsworth village is an oasis in the shadow of Heathrow Airport.

Harmondsworth is a village in the London Borough of Hillingdon in the historic county of Middlesex. Historically a small hamlet called Southcote in the Middle Ages to a market village supplying London with fruit and vegetables. In 1944 the next market village called Heathrow was being developed as the airport we know now. Sadly, the Heathrow third runway expansion plans continue to threaten the village as you can see from the posters around the village. Harmondsworth has a centuries old church, barn, two pubs, cottages and bridge to explore. I spent an hour exploring this quaint village that is engulfed by Heathrow airport, warehouses, main roads and a motorway. Despite this, you would think that you are in rural England. I hope that the third runway expansion is scrapped for good, there is no need economically or environmentally!
