Due to a fault at Plank lane swing bridge the Canal and River Trust are operating assisted passage at 10am each morning. So I set off just incase the swing bridge closes for maintenance. Just before the swing bridge is a water point, where I fill up the Rum Wench before setting off through Wigan via Poolstock locks and finally mooring up for the day in the village of Crooke. During my time in Crooke I meet the local boaters, head to the Crooke Hall Inn pub, meet a new boater who has just bought a project springer boat and is currently doing it up and finally meeting the legend Derek Bent who works and care for the Historic Barges Ambush and Viktoria.
