okay why does no one talk about this scene? to me it's honestly one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the books and no one seems to acknowledge it, so i will. the scene is at the very end of escaping peril, after peril chases down moon to find her crying over darkstalker's scroll. qibli, winter, and turtle eventually catch up, and qibli and winter begin fighting over the scroll. up until now, peril has had other dragons make big decisions for her (mostly scarlet and then clay) and doesn't really think that she should be the one making the calls. and she sees the dragons around her fighting over the power of the scroll, and she thinks about the damage her father did with it and the damage other dragons could do with it, how it could be used to abuse others the same way scarlet abused her. and so she makes a decision for herself. she burns the scroll. and then she looks up, she sees that turtle is smiling, moon is smiling, and peril knows that she did the right thing. she made a decision for herself, finally, and it was the right thing to do. and then darkstalker comes out of the mountain, and peril blames herself for everything that he did. it's just so SAD to see peril finally grow, finally see that she is able to, DESERVES to make a call on her own, that she doesn't need to rely on others to do the right thing, and when she finally acts on her own accord and does what she thinks is right it backfires in the worst possible way. i just want peril to be okay and this scene just... i want to give her a hug :( if you read all of that, thank you!! let me know what you think :) do you agree that it's just absolutely tragic? do you also think it should be talked about more when talking about peril? do you think that it's just not a big deal and i'm just being overdramatic (likely when it comes to these dragon books)? let me know :) i hope you like it!! alright gonna go start reading the dangerous gift now ;) please do not trace, steal, use, copy or post my work elsewhere without my permission. thanks! additional info: i use procreate to draw and imovie to edit music: Fragments - AERØHEAD / aerohead Creative Commons — Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported — CC BY-SA 3.0 Free Download / Stream: https://bit.ly/al-fragments Music promoted by Audio Library • Видео
