In this video we take a detailed SPRUE CHECK of the Litaki NJ-22M1 Multirole Orao in 1/72 scale, a new 2025 tooling dedicated to one of the most overlooked ground attack jets of the Cold War era — a subject that rarely makes it onto the shelves of mainstream manufacturers. The NJ-22M1 is the upgraded two-seat development of the Yugoslav J-22 Orao program. The modernization brought a completely revised nose section with laser targeting integration, a digital cockpit replacing the original analog instrumentation, and a substantially expanded weapons capability. In service configuration the aircraft could carry the VRVZ-200 air-to-ground missile, R-60MK short-range air-to-air missiles, 250 kg guided glide bombs with deployable wings, an ASVL-500 targeting pod, and RADEOM-1 jamming pods — all of which are represented in the kit. Litaki has engineered the fuselage in a way that avoids the traditional longitudinal seam, splitting the structure so that every join falls on an existing panel line. The result is a cleaner build process and a more accurate surface right out of the box. Alignment pins are included throughout. The cockpit is addressed with a set of 3D-printed resin parts supplied as standard — two ejection seats with molded harness detail, dual instrument panels, and a fully detailed tub. A photo-etched fret covers additional cockpit refinements, glide bomb fin assemblies, and other small details. Canopy masks and a Decograph-printed decal sheet with three Serbian Air Force schemes complete the package. Total part count is 218 plastic parts across 9 sprues plus 101 photo-etched parts. Pros: Fuselage engineering eliminates visible seam lines by following natural panel breaks 3D-printed resin cockpit with two seats, dual instrument panels, and molded harness detail included as standard Canopy masks in the box — no need for aftermarket Complete NJ-22M1 weapons suite represented, including glide bombs with deployable fin assemblies Clean, flash-free molding with well-proportioned surface detail for 1/72 Cons: Markings limited to Serbian Air Force — no export or prototype options Several photo-etched components, particularly the glide bomb fins, are very small and require careful handling at this scale The subject will appeal primarily to builders with a specific interest in Balkan or post-Yugoslav aviation A thoughtful and well-specified kit of a genuinely rare subject. For builders looking for something beyond the usual Western and Soviet inventory, the Litaki NJ-22M1 Multirole Orao offers both an interesting build and a finished model that stands apart on any display shelf.
