"Serenata" K. Penderecki, Ono Trio

In 2007 Krzysztof Penderecki composed the piece "Serenata" for 3 cellos dedicated to his wife Elżbieta Penderecka. For our trio this piece has really a special meaning. One of our Trio members was searching for music in an antiquarian. By chance she found this beautiful small piece of music and asked her two friends if they would like to play it together. That was when Ono Trio was founded. The trio focuses amongst others on the meditation of contemporary music. About the piece: A serenata is a love song or music of homage. Penderecki addresses this character in his "Serenata", which he wrote for his wife's birthday. Our interpretation of this work is that there is a dialogue between two Lovers and a third Person who disturbs the relationship or does not approve of it. In the music, the story / living conversation is expressed through a dialogue between the three Musicians. Not only through the auditory, but also through the visual impression with the help of light, shadow and our "act", we offer the listener and viewer the possibility to comprehend or understand this contemporary work.
