Donnington Park action from onboard my Ginetta G55 GT4 race car in the classic sports car club slick series, This was a multiclass race and at the start I was sitting 3rd overall and 1st in class, Throughout the race I was in seconds for most of the time after the exit of the Lamborghini early on, until the aerial atom got past with around 10 minutes to go. The race had a bit of everything including virtual safety cars, Full safety cars, Pit stops and lots of close racing, We came up on backmarkers very quick and had to get the overtakes done as quickly as possible to stay ahead of 2nd in class and 3rd overall as they could easily gain time on us. We was using this weekend as a bit of fun to get out on track for the first time this year in race conditions so bolted on a set of second hand slicks that cost me £200 for the set and qualifying 3rd overall out of 41 cars was a big success and to be only less than 2 seconds behind the Lamborghini hurricane and less the a second behind the Ferrari 488 in qualifying was more than we expected. You can see throughout the race the we are using a very tired engine as we are a lot slower than most cars in a straight line so have to make up all of the difference on the brakes and in the corners, if we had a new set of slick tyres who knows what we could have done. The minimum pitstop time was 1:30:000 and I left the pits at 1:30:434 so the pitstop time was perfect We ended up finishing the race 3rd overall and with no damage on the car which was a bonus as 41 cars started the race and only 24 finished so there was lots of crashes throughout. #gt4 #gt3 #racecar #lamborghini #ferrari #ginetta #gtracing
