Big Tex Rises

Big Tex started off in 1949 working as Santa Claus in Kerens, Texas. He moved to Dallas in 1951 where he shed the red suit and shaved his beard. He made his first appearance in 1952 welcoming folks to The Great State Fair Of Texas with his new duds, a pair of size 70 boots and a 75 gallon hat. And now, 59 years later, it has turned out to be good steady work for him. Momma Tex is so proud of her boy. Standing at 52 feet (15.84 M) tall, he is about as Texas as it gets. As a kid seeing Big Tex was always one of my favorite things about fair day and still is. Since he wears his pants inside his boots I thought some 1930's singing cowboy tunes would be a good fit for this video but the strict U.S. copyright laws prevented anything like that from happening.
