In 1945, 25 engineers led by the young AEG director, Gustav Kugler, ventured from Berlin to Belecke, establishing the AEG Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft-Anlagentechnik AG. Since then, the site has been a beacon of innovation, with a rich history marked by research, development, and a spirit of innovation. Today, Infineon Technologies AG and Infineon Technologies Bipolar GmbH & Co. KG employ approximately 2,200 individuals at this pivotal location. The site has flourished as an innovation hub for power semiconductor components, cementing its significance within the group structure. Over the years, the site has experienced notable transformations, including its journey from being an AEG location to becoming a 100% Infineon subsidiary, followed by integration into the Infineon Group in 2005. In December 1945, the manufacturing facility at the present-day Infineon Warstein site commenced operations, focusing on the production of electrical components. This marked the beginning of a journey that led to pioneering developments in rectifiers, ultimately culminating in the production of advanced semiconductor products such as Thyristors. In the early 1990s, the site introduced its first high-performance semiconductors with IGBT chips, which have since dominated the market. Infineon Warstein's journey is a testament to its unwavering commitment to innovation and technological advancement, propelling it to the forefront of the semiconductor industry.
