The Endangered Species Act: Why It Matters

The Endangered Species Act is so much more than legislation. Transcript: It's not lost on me that I was able to grow up with the American alligator in the low country of South Carolina because of the Endangered Species Act. They wouldn't be there if the ESA didn't exist. It's not lost on me that when I drive through Raleigh and I look up and I see a bald eagle soaring above the highway that I only have that experience because of the ESA. And there are so many species that we can that we can put under that umbrella of things that people like me, people younger than me are only, only blessed to see because of this act. We wouldn't we wouldn't have the environment and the ecosystems we have right now if it wasn't for the ESA. It is, in my opinion, one of the most important pieces of legislation in this country's history, because it really it said, we care about this, these animals matter. This biodiversity matters and and the future of our children and our grandchildren and their ability to see those animals, it matters to us.
