Maybe it is no chance that when on holidays there is always a big stock of FSW boards at the surf centers. Especially 93-104 litres. With outboard footstrap positions and even a freeride fin the FSW can be a fast freeride board. It is able to carry reasonably big sails, has early planing and is plenty faster than a wave board. Compared to a freeride/-move board it needs more wind or active sailing to start planing but it also cuts better through chop actually making it easier to sail fast when the wind picks up and it is more playful. The 104 litre in the clip works best from 4,7 up to 6,2 carrying up to 6,6 sqm without problem. With 88 kg I can still uphaul a 6,6. Compared to a wave board the turns are less snappy and wider but it is ok for a beginner in the waves. Especially a smaller version in onshore conditions due to it's relatively early planing. Would I have to choose only one board the FSW 104 is not bad choice for me. It is versatile, has room to develop skills and planes from ca 20 knots of wind. Then again my RRD 94 or that JP FSW 93, 103 and Fanatic 96 or 106 they're all slightly different but all versatile and great fun! Why settle for one?
