The Supreme Court of India has issued an important direction for judicial service aspirants across the country. While hearing the review petitions challenging the 3-year practice rule for Civil Judge (Junior Division) posts, the Supreme Court directed all High Courts to extend the last date of submission of applications till 30 April 2026. The bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Augustine George Masih and Justice K. Vinod Chandran passed this order considering that recruitment processes have already started in several states. However, the Supreme Court refused to stay the 3-year practice requirement for judicial services and clarified that the rule introduced through the Court's earlier judgment must be respected. In this video, we discuss: • Supreme Court order extending Civil Judge application deadline • Status of the 3-year practice rule for judiciary exams • Arguments made by senior advocates during the hearing • Observations made by the Supreme Court bench • Impact on judiciary aspirants and law graduates This development is extremely important for judiciary aspirants, law students, advocates and legal professionals.
