Mary and I set out to check out a ghost town located just a couple hours away from us. Once home to the World's highest railroad tracks, Uptop used to be a fairly productive mining town in the late 19th and early 20th century. Once the big automotive boom came and Colorado decided to build a safer and more robust highway system through the La Veta Pass, Uptop was left as a thing of the past. Unfortunately there was very little we could explore in the town as it was mostly private property. We then set out to find a remote campsite where the 3 of us could enjoy the mountains and relax.
