I visited Shenzhen Safari Park to see the only giant panda in Shenzhen, but what I saw around the zoo surprised me even more. Guests were feeding animals like wolves and hippos, something I had never seen before. In this video, I focus on the giant panda experience at Shenzhen Safari Park (深圳野生动物园) and share some interesting facts about pandas along the way. What really stood out, though, was how freely visitors could interact with other animals. Some guests brought their own food, and staff even approached us offering food to feed the wolves. From a Western perspective, this felt unusual and raised a lot of questions about zoo culture and animal interaction in China. Is this normal? Would you expect this at a zoo elsewhere?
