For everyone who is considering buying an Onkyo receiver (especially the TX-NR828) this should be interesting. While the problem may not occur with other models, the way the Onkyo (Germany) support has handled my questions and requests shows that they are not really interested in working with customers to improve their products. I found that very frustrating and it might make you consider different vendors for your purchase. I first contacted Onkyo Germany about this problem on Jan 15, 2014. As mentioned in the video, they were not helpful at all. They did not acknowledge that this an error, but were at the same time not able to explain the behavior. One support team member at one point said that he thought it was a bug, that he would forward the issue, that there might be some help and that he would get back to me, which however did not happen in the following three months. Finally, after many emails and a phone call (initiated by me), I received a simple "Sorry we can't help you"-email (that is literally all the email said) on May 19. I think Onkyo could do much better than that and if I was to buy similar equipment again, I would buy from other companies due to this bad support experience. P.S.: In the video, I show the bug while the receiver is in the "Direct" mode. I have tried the same with all other modes (including "Pure Audio"), where it behaves exactly the same. ------------------------------------------- ======= Settings: ======= The Sonos Connect is connected to the receiver via optical cable to the port "Optical 1" The "PC" input on the receiver is assigned to the Sonos Connect In "1.4 Digital Audio Input" PC is set to "Optical 1" In "4.6 Audio Selector" for the source PC "Audio Selector" is set to "Optical" and "Fixed Mode" is "off" In "4.1 Audyssey", "Audyssey" is set to "Music", "Dynamic EQ" is "on" with a "Reference Level" of "0dB" and "Dynamic Volume" is "Off" In "1.2 HDMI Input", "PC" is set to "-----" All Listening Modes have been tested. The same behavior occurs for all of them. The receiver is used with a 5.1 speaker setup (all Canton speakers) Also connected to the receiver: An LG Bluray player via HDMI to Input BD/DVD An Apple TV via HDMI to Input CBL/SAT A Philips TV, whose sound is output by the receiver coming via optical cable to port "Optical 2"
