GTA III was the game that changed everything. It revolutionized gaming like few games ever could. Introducing the open world concept to a mass audience like some had tried before, and all had failed. It also ushered in a new perception for gaming. Before GTA III gaming was overwhelmingly considered a childish activity, whereas GTA III was a mature rated game with such a level of popularity amongst casual audiences that gaming from that point forward became more adult.
