Today we visit the city of Cordoba, Spain and their classic Plaza de toros Los Califas! History: The Los Califas bullring is the bullring of the Spanish city of Córdoba . It has capacity for 17,000 spectators and is considered a 1st Category venue. In 2019 the company that manages the bullring is Lances de Futuro, whose businessman is José María Garzón. Its origin dates back to 1963, coming to replace the previous Los Tejares bullrin , when a group of Cordovans founded a society to promote its construction: José Rodríguez Jiménez, José Gómez Salmoral, José Pérez Barquero, Rafael Guerra Sánchez, Rafael Marchal Ceballos and Manuel Navas Quero. Thus, with José Rebollo Dicenta 4 's project and his technical direction, work began in June, 1963. It was inaugurated on May 9, 1965 with the name of Los Califas in honor of the five great matadors of the province: Lagartijo , Guerrita , Machaquito , Manolete and Cordobés , the latter was appointed fifth Caliph in 2002. On August 3, 2011, this square was designated to host the semifinals of the 100th Davis Cup between Spain and France, which were held between September 16 and 18.
