National Seminar on the theme Anthropology in Contemporary Practice: Pathways for a Sustainable Future is organized by the Department of Anthropology, 26-27th September 2025. Dr. Subho Roy is a Professor of Anthropology at the University of Calcutta and the Indian Statistical Institute. He is a bio-cultural anthropologist who researches human health, reproduction, and lifestyle factors in different populations in India. Professor Subho Roy is a bio-cultural anthropologist from the University of Calcutta who specializes in human health and its intersection with cultural and environmental factors. His research includes menopausal and reproductive health among different populations and comparative studies on health risk factors, such as cardiovascular disease, in distinct social groups within West Bengal. As the Managing Editor of the Journal of the Indian Anthropological Society and the Member Secretary for the Indian National Confederation and Academy of Anthropologists, Dr. Subho Roy is a leading figure in the Indian anthropological community. He also holds a professorship in Anthropology at the University of Calcutta.
