Meet Katie Waldegrave, who runs Now Foster, a brilliant organisation helping people to learn about and get into foster care. Many of our members are interested in what they can do to make a difference to people’s lives, and foster care feels like one of the problems in the UK that would really benefit from members in our community getting involved with. There are more options to help than just full-time fostering so, in this session, we’ll hear more from Katie, who is is on a mission to open people’s eyes to the different ways you can support. In this session, Katie talks about: The size and scale of the issue in the UK. Currently, many siblings are being split up and we have a massive shortage of people to offer support. Whilst this is not a job people do for money, people are paid to look after children who need care, so we will discuss this aspect. The criteria and assessment process to become a foster parent.
