This doc follows the story of pre-term babies, the experiences their parents face and the journey of bringing their children home. In this episode: High risk pregnancy Julie is 30 weeks pregnant but her baby’s growth rate isn’t sufficient for a normal birth. She has been in hospital for the last month being closely monitored as last year she had a still birth due to the same problem; blood flow from the placenta to the baby is not which affects baby’s development. This is called growth restriction and is one of the main causes of premature births. Charlotte and her partner Chris have hardly left their baby’s side after giving birth only 25 weeks into her pregnancy. A birth this early used to mean giving up straight away but nowadays babies this young can be kept alive in incubators that mimic the state of the womb.
