Puro Sabor Cigar Festival – Day 2 Recap Tuesday in Granada was packed with memorable moments. We started with a boat tour on Lake Nicaragua, the second-largest lake in the Americas and home to freshwater bull sharks. The heat was intense, but cold Toñas kept us refreshed as we cruised past picturesque islets and even spotted some monkeys from a distance. Our lunch stop on an islet was a treat. We were welcomed with vigorón as an hors d'oeuvre, followed by cigars from Karen Berger, Villiger, and Skip Martin: a K Fire, a Maestranza, and a Villiger 1888. The atmosphere came alive with a batucada featuring drums and folkloric dancers. Dinner at the historic Convento de San Francisco capped the day. We were welcomed by Gladys Medina, Granada’s mayor, and entertained by talented folkloric dancers. The cigars didn’t stop—this time, we received a My Father Don Pepin Garcia E.R.H. and a CAO Fasa. A highlight of the evening was the Flor de Caña rum experience, where we poured our own glass straight from the barrel. It was a perfect way to end the day. Next stop: Estelí!
