Many believe that if God is all-powerful and truly good, suffering shouldn’t exist. Some might think that suffering means God is either not in control or not fair, while others assume that those who suffer must have done something wrong. In ancient times, people strongly believed that God was both powerful and just, so they concluded that suffering must be a punishment for sin. But Job’s story challenges this idea. Job was a righteous man who feared God, yet he lost everything—his wealth, family, and health. His friends believed his suffering was proof that he had sinned, but Job knew he had done nothing wrong. This left him confused and struggling with his faith. He cried out to God, searching for answers, but found none. His friends insisted that their traditional beliefs were correct, but their words brought no comfort. The book of Job reveals that human wisdom has limits. Job’s suffering was not because of sin but because of a challenge from Satan, who claimed that people only follow God for blessings. God allowed Job to suffer to prove that true faith is not based on rewards. Even though Job questioned God, he never turned away from Him. In the end, God restored Job’s fortunes, but more importantly, Job learned to trust God’s wisdom even when he didn’t understand His ways. This story teaches us that suffering is not always a punishment and that God’s ways are beyond human understanding. It encourages us to remain faithful, trust God, and remember that our struggles may have a greater purpose we cannot see. 🎹 Music: Almost in F - Tranquillity by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...
