A 70km hike in the Knoydart region of Scotland, an area dubbed Britain's last wilderness with my new 3F Lanshan 1 Pro tent. Not everything went to plan - and the hike was very challenging both mentally and physically. The wet and rainy 4 days did offer some spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. The route in total was 70km long with 4600 metres gained. It took us 4 days to complete, with 3 nights. 2 nights I camped, and stayed in the Sourlie bothy for 1 night. ___ Day 1: Left the car park at Loch Arkaig in the afternoon. Walked through Glendessary wood and past Lochan a' Mhaim, on the southern side of the munros. Stayed in Sourlie bothy for the night. 17km and 500m climbed. Day 2: Started the day through a marshy and boggy section before heading up to the pass between Meall Buidhe (940m) and Meal Ghasiter (718m). Had lunch at the pass before continuing the climb up to Meall Buidhe. Followed the ridge to Luinne Bheinn (939m) and camped near the summit for the night. Original plan was to climb Ladhar Bheinn as well but our pace was too slow. 13km and 1500m climbed. Day 3: Headed down to Mam Barrisdale before picking up the track to Barrisdale to use the bathroom facilities. Left quickly due to midge swarms and climbed up to Mam Unndalain before descending down towards River Carnach. Followed River Carnach back to Sourlie bothy where I camped outside. Original plan was to climb up to Lochan na Craoibhe and camp there. 20km and 700m climbed. Day 4: Climbed Sgurr na Ciche (1040m) from the South West. Continued along to climb Garbh Chioch Mhor (1013m) and followed the ridge to climb Sgurr nan Coireachan (953m) before descending South towards River Dessary. Retraced our steps from the 1st day back out. 21km and 1900m climbed.
