Prior to the Renal Research Institute Symposium, Hanjie Zhang, PhD, Senior Director of AI Translational Innovation, and Karin Bergling, PhD, Research Scientist at the Renal Research Institute, led an AI Hands-On Innovation Training session for clinicians. This interactive session introduced participants to practical applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare, including AI voice agents, large language models, and data visualization tools. Through live demonstrations and audience participation, clinicians explored how AI can assist with administrative workflows, documentation, patient communication, and educational scenarios. The session also examined important considerations such as variability in AI outputs, data bias, hallucinations, overconfidence, and the need for human oversight. Throughout, the emphasis remained on using AI as a supportive tool while maintaining professional judgment, ethical awareness, and patient safety. This training provided a foundational, experience-based introduction to how clinicians can thoughtfully engage with emerging AI technologies in clinical and research settings.
