Fairey Huntsman 28' R/C Model Boat with Astro 860-5T Brushless Motor

This 42" OAL, scale model of the British Fairey Huntsman 28' high-speed, deep "V" cabin cruiser is powered by an Astro Flight 860-5T brushless motor on 8 lipo cells. Top speed by GPS measurement was 25.59 mph with 832 watts of power delivered by the Castle HV-45 ESC. Prop is a Prather S-230. A water cooled motor mount is used. This all-wood model was constructed in 1981-82 from a British Veron kit designed by Vic Smead. Originally, an OS FS-60 Marine 4-cycle engine was installed in this model, but provided unsatisfactory power and reliability. Two decades later, the engine was replaced by an Astro Flight Super Ferrite 40 marine geared motor which provided adequate reliability if not superior power. This year, the Astro 860-5T motor was installed which provides substantially superior power, efficiency, and reliability.
