Bible Commentaries For Beginners, Affordable One-Volume Commentaries

Many Christians do not realize that using Bible commentaries is simply another form of discipleship. And with the visible professing church failing miserably to "teaching" new converts the word of God (Matt. 28:20a), the Great Commission has become the Great Omission, and discipleship is needed much more than when I first experienced the new birth in 1985. Choosing the right Bible commentaries is a lot like choosing the right church. One of the reasons why we, as Christians go to church, is to learn what the Bible teaches. And the same is true why many Christians consult Bible commentaries. Another reason is that Christians want to know what a church believes before they attend one of its Sunday services. The same is true of commentaries; those who consult them, want to know what the commentator believes before purchasing his commentary. This is where the similarities end. In this video I discuss two wrong ways to use commentaries and what I consider to be the right way to use them.
