Enjoying Korea's autumn foliage in November

서울근교에서 즐기는 단풍과의 하루 Late October to early November is when autumn foliage is at its best in Korea. Although the country's many mountain ranges offer the most breathtaking views, most big city-dwellers don't want to spend hours in the car getting there. That's why our Lee Jeong-yeon went to check out some places in and around Seoul where you can enjoy practically the same experience. It's the start of November, the last month of autumn, and the peak time to see the colorful autumn leaves. (Stand-up) The warm red hues in Korea are truly a site for sore eyes. And although the short but sweet autumn season in Korea is nearing its end, there are still places that people can go to without venturing too far from the capital, to enjoy the scenic views of the season. Namsan Seoul Tower, a landmark in the heart of Seoul, attracts both local and overseas visitors all year round. And it's the perfect short trip to take within the city to experience autumn. The cable-car ride up the mountain offers a close-up look at the foliage from above, as well as a view of the entire city. But around this time of the year, many visitors are opting to take a hike up Namsan mountain for more than just the view from the top. (Korean) "I hiked up here with my daughter and grandchildren. I think it's just really amazing to come here during this season because the leaves are so pretty and the weather's just perfect." If you're also up for a slightly longer, but relaxing drive in your car, just less than an hour's drive from Seoul is an amusement park in Yong-in, right at the foot of the mountains. Visitors can go for a quick trip down to Everland for a ride on the roller coasters or simply stroll with loved ones and breathe in the smell of chrysanthemum and autumn leaves surrounding the park. The colors are really bright in autumn." With the scorching heat of the summer long-gone, and the bone-deep chill of winter yet-to-come, this season may be the perfect chance to spend some quality time outdoors.
