The hospital I was born in and went to my whole life is now abandoned. Foreseeing demolition in its near future, I figured one last visit would be worth it. DISCLAIMER: Anyone considering going into this building should think twice. There are multiple surveillance cameras/lights and several alarms throughout. Also, the police frequently use this property/building for dog training exercises. Trespassing charges can be mild to detrimental depending on your record. The last mention is, you never know who you you might stumble upon inside of these walls. What I'm trying to say is, this is dangerous and it should not be duplicated. An abandoned building in the middle of nowhere is much safer than one in the middle of a city. TRESPASSERS BEWARE. Welcome to Trenton New Jersey. Join us today as we venture through the vacant Mercer Medical Center. Originally named Mercer Hospital it was opened in 1895 as only a three-story brick building. Over the next century it expanded substantially and the hospital was chronically overcrowded. The largest edition, an 8-story patient tower was completed in 1969. Unfortunately In 2011 they pulled the plug on Mercer in favor of opening a new modern hospital in Hopewell. Previously a proud facility that delivered babies and serviced the ill, it now sits as an abandoned building in disrepair.
