Rescuing a baby flying-fox who was trapped in an atrium: this is Hecate

A few weeks ago there was a rescue in this same apartment block, in fact, the block where I rescued Oxo about 12 months ago before it opened for occupation. The same MOP (member of public) who called in the rescue of Lilly, 3 weeks ago found this little one, trapped in the atrium of the foyer, unable to fly out. I did some video of the stupidity of the architecture just for your negative entertainment. Hecate is 12 weeks old, and at rescue, a little baby on the cusp of being a juvenile. (Baby is birth to 12 weeks, juvie, 3-6 months, subadult from 6 months to sexual maturity, between 12 and 18 months). She'd been crawling around on the rough tiles and stairs, trying to find a way out, and had grazes on her thumb pads and knuckles. The MOP's husband gets up early and uses the building's gym and found her at 6am. He got thick gloves and bundled her into a towel and into the laundry basket where she chilled out until I arrived. She was rescue 2 of the day (after Pagoda), of course at the opposite ends of my territory, then followed by Wheelibin during a torrential rain storm. Oops, and there is a surprise name change towards the end of the video; I'll leave the reason for that as a surprise. Her following videos will reflect her new name. A week later, she's a definite survivor and has teemed up with Lilly (from the same apartment block a few weeks before) as her bosom buddy. YAY. When she's chubby enough and old enough, she'll go into the creche release aviary and get back out there, a little older and wiser and hopefully mature enough to cope with life back in the wild. Tolga Bat Hospital takes donations for me. Tolga is an awesome place in Far North Queensland, which has charity status. By sending donations to them, they get a percentage (and deserve every cent) and they can allocate money to me for batty expenses without it becoming part of my income stream (which makes tax time difficult). https://tolgabathospital.org/donate/ Mention Megabattie or Meg in the PayPal message box and the money will find its way to me. If no message box appears, please email Jenny to tell her that the money is for me. IMPORTANT: If you pay through the PayPal Giving Fund, can you please email Jenny with the AMOUNT DONATED and the name under which you have donated, OR just forward along the PP receipt. The Giving Fund doesn’t charge any fees (so the bats get more money) but PP doesn’t itemise out the amount, they just send a total every month, and we don’t know if the money is for Tolga or for Megabattie. Here’s Jenny’s email. [email protected]
