Acorn A4000, A5000 and A440 CMOS Battery Removal

Today, we take a look at some of my other Acorns. The A4000 and 5000 have CMOS batteries located on the motherboard. It is essential that these are replaced at least every six years. My units have been in storage for a number of years. Thankfully, the location where they're stored, is dry and warm. I chopped the batteries off of the motherboard and used some vinegar to clean up the area, along with a cloth and some baby wipes. The A5000, should hopefully be salvageable. The A4000, may or may not. The A440, thankfully has a pair of AA cells, mounted well away from the motherboard. These had not leaked at all. I popped them out, and left the unit without batteries. Each unit will be repatriated, tested and cleaned up.
