How to Use WebDrive With ExaVault

We're going to take a look at WebDrive, an application that you can use to access files from your ExaVault account right on your local system. You can choose a version and download right at https://webdrive.com/ It does support both windows and Mac operating systems. Save and then open that saved item. Once you have WebDrive downloaded, all you have to do is double click on it and it will automatically walk you through the installation process. You might want to use WebDrive if you would like to be able to access files directly in your Windows Explorer without having to use a separate FTP client each time that you want to access those files or a separate browser. In addition it will map connections to those drives automatically and re-hookup those connections if you would like them to always be there. Let's see what the application actually looks like. Startup WebDrive. When you first get started it's a bit of a blank screen. It's quick to set up a new connection. Go ahead and select new and as you can see, it does support a wide variety of connections to online storage. For your ExaVault account, the connections you're interested in are SFTP, secure FTP or FTP connections. We're going to go ahead and select SFTP. On the next screen, you'll put in the configuration settings -- the settings to access your ExaVault account. One great feature of WebDrive is that it will do a quick test to make sure that you successfully entered all of your settings correctly. On the next page, you can put in a friendly name for your storage location as well as select what drive you would like that to be mapped to. You even have the option of having it automatically reconnect to your ExaVault storage when you first log into the computer. We'll go ahead and connect now and it has opened up Windows Explorer for me. You can see that in addition to drive C, I now have drive W which is my fast banana drive that I named, with all the files and folders that are in that account. This is a nice convenience factor to right from the Windows Explorer, be able to see and browse files and even interact with them. Let's say I have some troubleshooting logs that we need to upload to our account. Find my tech support folder then drag and drop those files into that folder and they get uploaded directly into the ExaVault account. To download, select the file to download, then select where to download it to. Just drop it down to that documents folder and here it is downloaded. It definitely makes it easier to copy and paste files from your local system on up to ExaVault or vice versa to grab files from ExaVault back down to your local system so that you can work on them. In addition, there are some other nice features to WebDrive. It has a backup option that will allow you to specify what type of backup you would like to complete. If you want to have files from your local system automatically copied up to ExaVault or download files from ExaVault to your local system, you have those options. In addition to selecting the locations for that synchronization, you can schedule the backup to run at a time that's convenient. Using WebDrive with ExaVault does give you the ability to backup files automatically. The synchronization option is great if you have multiple remote systems that you need to synchronize files between. In addition, when you're viewing files in Explorer, you are looking at those files directly on your remote ExaVault account, which is a nice security and space-saving feature. They're still securely stored at ExaVault, and you don't have to worry about the extra space being used on the local system. They are stored remotely for you. WebDrive is a great option for accessing files on your ExaVault account. Once you have set up the remote connection, those files will be available through your regular Windows Explorer or Mac Finder.
