Humanity's Crawl is a rock opera in 8 acts telling a mythologized story of the colonization of Australia, primarily based on an excerpt from the bestselling non-fiction book "Sapiens" by Yuval Noah Harari on which I play all the music and made the video for (with AI assistance). I wrote a detailed blog about it here when I finished the music five years ago here: https://humanityscrawl.blogspot.com/ Download the songs here free: https://humanityscrawl.bandcamp.com/a... An excerpt for this song: One proposed hypothesis for how humans made their way to the shores of Australia was that a monsoon blew them there. The following link has more in-depth analysis: http://www.ancient-origins.net/news-h... The monsoon is too strong. Settler is knocked over the side of the raft, drowning in the sea. Seaborn blames himself for the loss of his son, "chokin' sputterin' gaspin' fightin'... it's all because of me" For several days, Seaborn fights the torrential monsoon. He survives the ordeal, and washing up on a strange shore, lays down on the sand, exhausted and distraught. On a totally seperate note which has nothing to do with this rock opera directly, this is the only time I've ever used the "dead family member / losing a child" storytelling trope. It directly affected the next thing I wrote, a novella called Sanity and the Sun, in which no one dies but the stakes are nonetheless very high.
