I decided to push the MPC Live 3 to its limits — performing a full live jam completely standalone, no computer involved. The goal: perform a short sequence live while using Q-Link knobs for cutoff and FX, and trigger clips via the touchscreen at the same time. Unfortunately… that’s where things get tricky. Once the Q-Link overlay is active, you lose direct access to the clip launcher — and if you turn it off, you lose the visual feedback for your parameters. Super annoying. But on the bright side: recording directly into the Arranger works beautifully. You can capture a full performance and then simply export the mixdown right after — no DAW needed! Honestly, this workflow feels smoother than on the Push 3, where you can’t edit your standalone recordings afterward. The live stutter FX still need some tweaking, but I’m getting there ;) Let me know in the comments if you’ve found a better way to handle the Q-Link overlay while performing live. 🎧 Gear used: – Akai MPC Live 3 (Standalone Mode) – Headphones + Touchscreen control – Internal synths & samples #mpclive3 #akaimpc #standaloneperformance #mpcjam #musicproduction #liveperformance #akaiproducts
