When chickens (and turkeys!) free range - be it in a permaculture garden, orchard, on an urban farm - they sometimes have a tendency to exhibit their "birdiness" and, well, fly. Flying becomes a problem when birds take off over the fence into neighbors' yards or into the street. The humane solution is to clip their wings. (No, it doesn't hurt the birds). Our teenage turkeys have gotten quite good at flying up in trees and on top of our privacy fence to check out the neighbors, or find us in the front yard. They are very social and just want to find the humans and hang out with us! But, we need to keep them safe from cars, neighborhood dogs, coyotes, etc, and also be good neighbors. So, join us today as we walk through the hows and whys of wing clipping. Ways to support our work: Paypal.me/ParkrosePermaculture www.Patreon.com/ParkrosePermaculture1
