Taking off in the RV-9A. Liftoff at about 60 knots, flap retraction at 80 knots (maximum flap speed is 87 knots), then engaging the autopilot. Initially, the autopilot is in Roll Mode (keep the wings level), and Pitch (hold) Mode. In case I was assigned a heading to turn to, I don't engage Heading Mode till I'm ready to turn -- but in this case, departure instructions were runway heading. I keep the plane in Pitch Mode till the speed has increased, otherwise the autopilot could pull the nose up too high. And yes, I definitely need a better camera location. This was the first flight with this location, an experiment that almost worked...
