Agricultural Leadership, Education, & Communications (ALEC) is home to three concentrations where we prepare students to become change-makers. Learn more at https://alec.illinois.edu. CONCENTRATIONS Agricultural Communications Learn to address complex issues in food, agriculture, and the environment, and professionally communicate aspects of each area to the public and stakeholders through various platforms. In this concentration, you’ll also earn a minor in Food and Environmental Systems. Agricultural Education Prepare to become a high school agriculture teacher able to teach agricultural science, agribusiness, agricultural mechanics, and horticulture. You’ll complete a 12-week student teaching semester and gain hands-on experience with the FFA organization. Organizational and Community Leadership Develop your skills for leadership, training, and organizational development positions in agricultural, community, and governmental agencies. Students complete a 10-week internship inside an agricultural or food industry, or a community organization.
