🌿 Veterans for Cannabis – Episode Recap: THCA vs. THC 🌿 Hello everyone, this is Big C (Carlos Muñoz) with my brother, Jared W Campbell, from Watchdog Ministries/Veterans for Cannabis. 👊 This week, we dug deeper into the THCA debate — especially what’s going on in Texas vs. Oregon. Here’s what we unpacked: 🔎 What is THCA? Cannabis plants don’t produce THC directly — they produce THCA in the trichomes. THCA is non-psychoactive until heated (smoked, vaped, or baked). Once heated, THCA converts into THC, the compound that produces the “high.” 👉 That means ALL cannabis flower — whether in Oregon, Texas, or your backyard — is naturally THCA-rich until it’s consumed. 💡 Research & Potential Benefits Anti-inflammatory (arthritis, autoimmune). Neuroprotective (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s). Anti-nausea (cancer & GI conditions). Anticonvulsant (seizure reduction). ⚠️ Most studies are still preclinical, but THCA looks safe so far. ⚖️ Oregon vs. Texas Oregon: Cannabis is legal, regulated, and taxed. Shops don’t market “THCA flower” because all flower contains THCA. Labels show THCA% %, Delta-9 THC% %, and total THC. Texas: Cannabis is illegal, but hemp is legal under 0.3% Delta-9 THC. Shops market “THCA flower” as a loophole, since it looks and smokes like weed but tests under the legal limit. Lawmakers see this as undermining prohibition. 📢 Texas Argument Hard to police: hemp vs. marijuana looks the same. Youth access: concerns over gummies/vapes marketed to kids. Public health: fears of mislabeling or additives. Politics: leadership wants to keep the line firm against recreational legalization. 🤔 Where We Stand Both of us see both sides. As parents and veterans, we value safe, medicinal cannabis, but we also know the dangers of products slipping into the hands of kids. We believe in holding shops accountable and federal medical legalization as a first step. That could close loopholes, support research, and give veterans safe access. 👉 Next time, we’ll explore the roots of the cannabis movement after the 2000s opioid crisis and how cannabis became a lifeline for patients. We’ll also touch on spirituality and cannabis use. 🎙️ Stay tuned, keep learning, and most of all — stay objective. Veterans for Cannabis – For Healing. For Clarity.
