Paleochora is located 70 km southern of Chania on coast by Libyan sea. It’s a small town with 2 200 inhabitants and is built on peninsula. There are two beaches on Paleochora coast. The one in the west part is large sandy beach. On the opposite side of peninsula there is the second beach which is pebbly and smaller than the other one, but better hidden from wind. On the top of the peninsula are ruins of Venetian castle called Selino. The port of Paleochora is under the castle on the edge of peninsula. Paleochora is in summer busy destination. There are many hotels and apartments and plenty of tavernas, restaurants, cafes, bars and others. It’s good destination for relax but also for exploring famous Cretan places like Elafonissi, Kedrodassos or Samaria and Agia Roumeli.
