I celebrated my birthday with my first international trip in about eight years—and it was my very first visit to Vietnam! Join me on a 7-night, 8-day adventure through Hanoi, Sapa, and Ha Long Bay. In this first episode, we explore the vibrant streets and food scene of Hanoi.✨ I’ve packed in tons of travel tips and insider info, so enjoy the ride and feel free to drop your questions in the comments! 🌦️ I visited mid-October when the weather was mild with only brief, refreshing showers—perfect for exploring. If you’re planning a trip to Vietnam or Hanoi, I highly recommend traveling between late October and November. 🙌🏻 [Hanoi Foodie Spots – Google Maps Links Included] Day 1 10:23 📍 Pho 10 (Pho 10 Ly Quoc Su) Google Maps Link A Michelin-recommended pho spot where I enjoyed my very first bowl of Vietnamese pho. Even if you ask for no cilantro, they still pack in plenty of veggies so everyone can savor the flavor! 14:05 📍 Bánh My Mama Google Maps Link My first bánh mì experience in Vietnam—expect a refreshingly wholesome taste that’s different from Korean sandwiches. Next time, I’d love to try their “Bread with Egg and Pork” (sans sausage and pâté). 14:58 📍 Cộng Cà Phê Google Maps Link A haven for coconut coffee smoothie lovers—this place nailed it with their delicious coconut coffee! 17:30 📍 Railway Cafe (Cafe ga Đông Dương) Google Maps Link Sit back and watch trains pass by at this unique cafe. The spot I visited had a perfect view of trains arriving and departing. 21:57 📍 ZÔ 26 (Beer Street Bar) Google Maps Link Located at the entrance of Beer Street, this bar was much calmer near the front. Venture too far inside and you might get caught up in aggressive promotions—so stick to the entrance area for a more relaxed vibe. (Fun fact: I even got pulled into club promotions twice!) Day 2 24:50 📍 Phở Gia Truyền Bát Đàn Google Maps Link A Michelin-rated pho restaurant famous in Vietnam (endorsed by local chef Baek Jong-won!). They only serve during two short sessions (morning and evening), so plan accordingly. Note: Asking to remove cilantro might strip away other veggies—better to request extra veggies and pick out the cilantro yourself. Don’t forget to dip (or even “brine”) your meat in the flavorful broth! 25:55 📍 AHA Cafe Google Maps Link Perfect for a refreshing Mango Oolong Tea or a well-diluted black coffee. I might have mis-ordered my coffee, so be sure to check recent reviews before you visit. 27:28 📍 Banh Mi 25 Google Maps Link For a more authentic bánh mì experience (unlike the flatter style at Bánh My Mama), this place is a hit with foreign tourists. Personally, I wasn’t a huge fan of the pâté, but the hot sauce at the table made it extra tasty. 37:04 📍 Bún Chả Hương Liên Google Maps Link Famous for hosting former President Obama, this bún chả joint is a must-try. Their “Obama Combo” is perfectly balanced, and the dish is light enough to enjoy every bite. 38:47 📍 Bún Chả Đắc Kim Google Maps Link A bustling spot loved by locals and tourists alike (and well-known among Korean visitors). I found it a tad greasier than Hương Liên, but it’s definitely worth a try. 42:37 📍 Highlands Coffee Google Maps Link Often dubbed Vietnam’s answer to Starbucks—if you’re craving an iced Americano, Highlands Coffee is a reliable go-to. 44:35 📍 Bò Nầm Nướng Google Maps Link I discovered this BBQ joint since few eateries stay open late. The takeaway version wasn’t as impressive (a strong margarine flavor and a cooled-down meal), but grilling it yourself at one of the street-side tables would surely up the flavor. If you need a late-night snack at your accommodation, it’s a solid choice. I personally loved dipping the meat in calamansi sauce on some bread! #HanoiTravel #HanoiVlog #VietnamTravel #HanoiFood #TravelVlog #VietnamVlog
