Cold Air Feed TEST - Are cold air feeds worth the effort/money?

Induction kit manufacturers sometimes supply a "cold air feed" for the exposed cone filter in the kit. Question is, does the feed do anything? And is it worth using? My findings/thoughts For an exposed cone filter in the engine bay a cold air feed might help a tiny bit But I think there are bigger gains to be made constructing heat shields for the cone filter. If you have to choose between a cold air feed and heat shields for your cone filter, I would choose heat shields every time. Once on the move there is a lost of air passing through the engine bay with or without the cold air feed. If you are using a enclosed air filter eg K&N Apollo/57i/standard airbox, I would say a properly sealed cold air feed which has good supply of cold air from the front of the car, ***is essential***. The stock cold air feed is probably a good base to start from with regards to where to locate the inlet of a cold air feed.
