According to information, the incident took place on the day of Holi when people in the locality were celebrating the festival with colours and water balloons. Children and elders were enjoying the festivities in the streets. During this time, a little girl was playing with her grandfather and throwing water balloons as part of the celebration. In the course of the game, one of the balloons accidentally hit a person passing by. Eyewitnesses say that a brief argument broke out at that moment, but the situation appeared to calm down soon after. However, later in the night, the seemingly minor dispute took a dangerous turn. It is alleged that some individuals who were upset over the balloon incident decided to take revenge. Late at night, those individuals allegedly caught hold of a young man from the same family as the girl. According to the family members, the attackers then brutally assaulted him with sticks and wooden rods. The beating was reportedly so severe that the young man collapsed on the spot after sustaining critical injuries. Local residents tried to rush the injured man to a hospital, but by the time he received medical attention, it was too late. Doctors declared him dead, leaving his family devastated. The victim’s relatives claim that the young man was targeted simply because the balloon thrown by the child had accidentally hit someone earlier in the day. Following the incident, the body of the deceased was taken to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital and kept there for post-mortem examination. Tension also erupted at the hospital when a confrontation broke out between the victim’s family members and the police. The grieving family demanded immediate arrest of the accused, while the police tried to calm the situation and maintain order. Fortunately, the little girl involved in the initial incident is safe. However, the tragic death of a member of her family has turned what was supposed to be a day of celebration into a day of mourning. Police officials reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and increased security in the area. Authorities said that a detailed investigation is underway and efforts are being made to identify and arrest the accused persons involved in the assault. For now, the situation in Uttam Nagar remains tense but under control, with police teams patrolling the locality to prevent any further disturbance.
