Hi All! I'm back from a short road trip where I had lots of time to daydream about this current project and come up with a plan for this next video. I had been pulling together some coffee stained papers and thinking about how I want to organize my signatures, which I think should be my next step. I had a little downtime and was also able to watch a couple of videos. One was a beginning bookbinding video by @NiktheBooksmith. Here's the link: • BEGINNER BOOKBINDING PROJECT | Art Journal . I should have watched this {before} I made my cover...oh well...I was able to modify her process and did a practice run on one of my mini covers. Do you like to sew all your signatures in before you decorate or after? I decided I want to at least do some planning and figure things out and do some stitching before I sew mine in so I'll save that video for later. I was also inspired by @TracieFoxCreative who did a video on painting grungy backgrounds using a Gelli Plate. This was perfect timing because I had so much fun creating all the hand painted papers in my last series that I wanted to do that again but using some different techniques so that I could try to mimic grungy old walls. While her actual technique did not work for my project it did get my wheels turning and I was able to come up with the perfect recipe for faux fresco walls with lots of old layered paint and even a fun trick for creating water stains. Here's a link to her video if you'd like to check it out...she has some fun ideas that might work on a future project: • Lets Create A Junk Journal: Frottage and P... I took the whole day to play and paint papers and came up with about 21 papers that will be perfect for this project in addition to a bunch that didn't make the cut but will be amazing for a future project. I decided not only to share this process with you in this video but to go ahead and get all the 21 scanned, color corrected and into my Etsy Shop so that you can use them as backgrounds too!
