“You start in one place and you end up somewhere else at the end.” While Ahmed Klink is referring to the transformative experience of portrait photography, his words double as a concise summation of any creative journey. Over the course of a day, year, or entire career, the ultimate goal of an artist is a well-traveled craft. The creative industry recognizes Ahmed as a brilliant New York-based filmmaker and photographer with a client list that includes 72andSunny, Billboard, Bacardi, Adidas, MTV, and Converse. But that’s not where he started. Ahmed was born in Lebanon in the 80s where he escaped a raging Civil War, finding shelter in France where he spent the next 20 years. His interests are also a journey unto themselves. Ahmed received a PhD researching how nanoparticles effectively diagnose heart disease before informing his thesis defense jury that he’d be pursuing photography. Work With is a film series from Working Not Working that introduces you to the creatives behind the work.
