Cephalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin antibacterial. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins and disrupts or inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. It is available as 250, 500 and 1000 mg tablets. And also available as oral suspension. Cephalexin is used in the treatment of infections of respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and skin structures and bone; treatment of otitis media due to susceptible strains of specific microorganisms. The usual dosage of Cephalexin for: Adults 1–4 g/day in divided doses (maximum 4 g/day). Children 1 month to 12 years: 25 to 50 mg/kg/day in divided doses.
