The Reactor Institute Delft operates a nuclear reactor (HOR) with beam-line instruments, in-core irradiation facilities and radionuclide laboratories. The reactor is being upgraded with a cold neutron source to enhance the performance of the adjacent instruments enormously. This programme is named OYSTER: Optimized Yield – for Science, Technology and Education – of Radiation. The Cold Neutron Source-Utility building is almost finished. The equipment in this building, will cool the cold source which is in the reactor basin. The upgraded experimental nuclear reactor will have better measurement methods and research techniques for groundbreaking science, and thus be more widely accessible to researchers to respond to the needs of science and society. rid.tudelft.nl
